I got this CD from a nice dude at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport during my visit to Jakarta few weeks ago. In exchange, I gave him BELLIGERENT INTENT “Eternity of Hell and Torments” cassette version from my label. To be honest, I never heard of them. From my first spin, I guess they’re Neo Thrash Metal berserkers with ferocious groove deathcore-like of LAMB OF GOD, SOULFLY, HATEBREED, FEAR FACTORY, UNEARTH or MACHINE HEAD.
“Programmed to Suffer” was performed and recorded by only Brendan Preston (vocals, lyrics) and Ryan Sumich ( guitars, bass, keys) at Sovereign Studios, in their hometown city, Perth. All mixing and mastering works were supremely done by Aidan Barton. This 2013 recording is impressive, they even received a nomination for West Australia Music‘s song of the year in the Heavy Metal category showed that mainstream media also recognized them as one potential forces in filthy music.
The whole conception for this EP is based on Charles Manson’s theory of Helter Skelter. Some movie line also being imported as sampling, I remember watching “Helter Skelter” back in school days. It is funny, he still alive (80 years old now) and was granted parole by the California Board of Parole on June 2014. Interesting guy, with strong ambition to start a worldwide race war by using music but eventually gave up and turned to kill people as new strategy.
In short, you have the best productions of sound, songwriting, musicianship and madness stamped into the name of ALL THIS FILTH. It is compact brutality, you shouldn’t take my review so lightly. From what I heard, the future is bright ahead of them with countless strings of live shows together with complete line-up filled in the empty departments. Check out this hell of angry musicians, this EP might challenge your sound system to the max!
